Tempeh is one of the most favorable foods around the world. Statistics shows the Tempeh is most interested in United States, secondly in Indonesia. Maybe you are wondering how to make the delicious tempeh. Well actually tempeh is made from fresh soy bean.
After harvesting the soy bean, the farmers are begun to remove the skins from the beans. Removing the skin process is actually simple, the soy bean is drown by fresh water until the skin is remove it self. This process is enough for one night only. But in order to make the perfect tempeh, all you need is tempeh starter which is tempeh fermentation. Tempeh fermentation is made from Rhizopus spores that lives with substrate. So after that the beans is fermented by tempeh fermentation, stir well, printed in design form and wrapped by “Jati” leaf or banana leaf or plastic.
Wrapping material also depending of what location tempeh are made. If tempeh was made in Malang, usually wrapping material is using banana leaf. But if the tempeh was made in Solo (Mid Java), wrapping material usually is using “Jati” leaf”. Because of those particular area has a lot of leafs. After one night fermentation, you can use the tempeh for another purpose such as fried tempeh or tempeh chips. So the conclusion is to make a good tempeh you will need a tempeh starter. Without tempeh starter your tempeh will taste nothing.
Making tempeh chips is also as simple as making tempeh ready to serve. Slicing the tempeh with tiny slice, mix with flour and fried until dry. Another spices also included when fry the tempeh. But before fry the tempeh, first must be mixing the flour with other spices such as union, shallot, sugar, salt and coriander. But those spices must be pound until it get soft and mixing the flour.
